    Professional compassionate thorough home recovery

I used Total Home Care for in-home recovery and was very pleased. Nurses Harley and Anthea were professional, compassionate, and thorough - Nurse Mendoza handled wound care expertly, and Linda and the owner were responsive. Caregivers and equipment service were punctual, polite, and adaptable; communication and flexible scheduling made recovery at home much easier, and I highly recommend them.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews convey a mixed but largely positive picture of clinical capability at Total Home Care, Inc. Clinical strengths are frequently emphasized — particularly skilled nursing for wound care, close clinical monitoring (vitals, breathing treatments), and effective home-based therapy that enables care outside the hospital. Equipment servicing and physical-therapy support are also described favorably, and ownership/management involvement appears visible to some clients.

Caregiver quality: Many families praised individual clinicians for being compassionate, attentive and technically competent. Specific nurses were called out for responsiveness, wound-care skill, and support during recovery. Caregivers are described as polite and respectful, and several accounts note thorough clinical assessments and hands-on treatment that contributed to positive outcomes.

Office communication and reliability: Communication patterns are mixed. Numerous accounts reference direct, timely communication via text and phone from nurses and the office, and some reviewers said communication improved over time. However, reviews also indicate operational weaknesses: inconsistent caregiver assignments, gaps in initiating ordered services, and episodes of short-notice cancellations or unclear aide whereabouts. These issues point to weaknesses in scheduling logistics and care coordination rather than clinical skill alone.

Scheduling flexibility and management: Scheduling flexibility and last-minute adaptability are strengths cited by families who needed changes on short notice. At the same time, the agency appears to struggle with consistent shift coverage and with ensuring the same aides are assigned over time. Owner involvement and a professional management presence were noted as positive factors that in some cases helped resolve problems.

Value and notable patterns: For clients whose primary need is skilled nursing, wound care, or equipment-supported home recovery, the agency appears to offer good clinical value. For long-term personal-care aide needs or for clients who require tightly consistent caregiver assignments, the variability in aide performance and coordination may reduce perceived value. Several reviews describe a pattern of strong clinical performance paired with operational and communication gaps that can affect day-to-day reliability.

Practical considerations for prospective clients: Ask the agency to confirm assigned caregivers and a written schedule, clarify back-up coverage and cancellation policies, request a clear point of contact for coordination, and verify start-of-service procedures. These steps can help families maximize the agency's clinical strengths while managing the operational risks noted in reviews.
