    Compassionate reliable caregivers, flexible scheduling

I'm very satisfied with this nonprofit agency - loving, talented caregivers who are punctual, attentive and compassionate. Communication is quick and management (and the social worker/nurses) are accessible and proactive; scheduling is flexible and billing was accurate. I'd use them again and recommend them for reliable, thoughtful in-home care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviewers present a predominantly positive view of COHME’s caregiving and coordination, with frequent praise for compassionate aides, organized intake, and an accessible office team. Many families emphasized the agency’s nonprofit orientation, strong social-worker involvement, and readiness to set up care on short notice. Those positive themes cluster around caregiver warmth, clinical competence, and a family-centered approach that assisted with complex or end-of-life situations.

Caregiver quality: Most comments emphasize caregivers who are patient, attentive, and professionally trained. Several reviewers described aides as thoughtful, punctual, and capable of providing personal-care and companionship in a way that integrated well with family needs. Reviewers also referenced nurse visits and social-worker interviews prior to aide start, which suggests a structured intake and supervisory framework that supports clinical oversight and caregiver matching.

Communication and reliability: Office communication and responsiveness are recurring strengths. Families consistently noted quick replies, proactive updates, and accessible management staff or social workers who followed up on concerns. Shift reliability is generally presented as a strong point — reviewers mention dependable coverage, available backups, and 24/7 responsiveness — though there are isolated notes about last-minute cancellations or short-notice changes that can impact continuity.

Scheduling flexibility and coordination: The agency is frequently described as flexible with scheduling, able to provide short-term fills or temporary coverage, and willing to adjust care plans as needs evolved. Social-worker involvement and problem-solving are highlighted as useful for coordinating care, arranging nurse oversight, and helping families navigate changing circumstances.

Billing and value: Financial experiences are mixed. Some families reported prompt, accurate billing and helpful administrative support. However, a distinct set of serious concerns around billing transparency, accuracy, and post-service charges appears across the feedback. These include descriptions of unexpected charges, billing that persisted after services ended (including after a client’s death), and aggressive collections practices. Because these issues affect trust and perceived value, prospective clients should obtain clear, written billing policies, confirm authorization procedures for added charges, and monitor invoices closely.

Management and notable patterns: Management and social-work staff receive consistent praise for empathy, clarity, and practical problem-solving; reviewers cite proactive case coordination and supportive supervision of aides. At the same time, a minority of comments raise significant operational issues: alleged household-property incidents and instances of inconsistent caregiver skill or conduct. These concerns do not represent the majority of feedback but are serious enough that families should ask how the agency screens caregivers, investigates client concerns, and documents incidents.

Bottom line and practical advice: COHME appears to deliver high-quality, compassionate in-home care with strong clinical and social-work support, flexible scheduling, and generally reliable coverage. Before committing, prospective clients should clarify billing and collections policies in writing, confirm procedures for incident reporting and investigations, and discuss caregiver training and continuity plans to reduce the chance of last-minute changes. Doing so will help leverage the agency’s clear strengths while managing the operational risks noted by some families.
