Five Star Home Health Care

    Reliable Compassionate Professional Home Care

I've had an excellent experience with Five Star Home Health Care - supportive leadership (Linda and Amanda stood out), professional and compassionate caregivers (Sidney, Ethan and others), and knowledgeable clinicians. They're responsive 24/7, punctual and reliable with scheduling, quick to provide substitutes, and my RN patiently taught catheter use while therapists kept sessions motivating. Communication, meals and office support consistently went above and beyond; I'm proud to be associated with them and happily recommend their services.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment about Five Star Home Health Care is mixed but leans positive on direct-care strengths. Many comments describe caregivers and clinicians as compassionate, attentive, and clinically capable — including RNs, therapists, and aides who provide hands-on instruction, motivated therapy sessions, and meal support. Families frequently note strong clinical skill, person-centered care, and an ability to coordinate during emergencies. The agency’s leadership and workplace culture are also cited as strengths: reviewers reference supportive supervisors, knowledgeable clinical leadership, and staff who take pride in their work.

At the same time, a consistent pattern in the feedback highlights operational challenges. Turnover and frequent caregiver changes are recurring themes, producing inconsistent caregiver assignments and interruptions in relationship-building and communication with clients. Related to that, reviewers describe uneven caregiver experience levels and occasional lapses in on-shift attentiveness. These items point to gaps in recruitment, retention, or training rather than one-off incidents.

Office-side communication shows a dual pattern. The agency is frequently praised for being reachable around the clock, providing responsive phone support, and arranging quick substitutes when needed. Several accounts specifically note reliable scheduling and proactive coordination in emergencies. However, other comments characterize the office as disorganized and uneven in professionalism: phone staff demeanor and message-handling quality are variable, and there are examples of slow responses or missed weekend coverage. Together these accounts suggest a generally responsive infrastructure that suffers from inconsistent execution.

Reliability and scheduling are likewise mixed. Many families report punctual caregivers, dependable scheduling, and flexibility for short-notice needs. Conversely, there are reports of sudden service gaps, missed respite coverage on weekends, and instances where clients were transitioned or dropped without adequate notice, indicating weaknesses in contingency planning and case management stability.

Value and service orientation are additional areas of concern. Some reviewers perceive the agency as relatively costly and describe a business orientation that favors short-term or higher-cost solutions. Those perceptions, combined with uneven continuity of care, raise questions about value for families balancing clinical needs and budget constraints.

In sum, Five Star Home Health Care appears to offer strong clinical talent, compassionate in-home care, and responsive emergency support, supported by a positive staff culture. Prospective clients should weigh those strengths against recurring operational issues: turnover and inconsistent caregiver matching, variable office professionalism, occasional unreliable shift coverage, and perceived pricing/value concerns. Families considering the agency may benefit from clarifying caregiver continuity practices, weekend/respite availability, training and supervision protocols, and billing expectations before enrollment.
